Today’s reading: Judges 16:1-22; Psalm 119:9-12

Growing up, my mom used to tell me, “If you play with fire, you’re going to get burned.” I didn’t realize it at the time, but those were wise words from a wise, wise mama.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Samson’s parents had given him that same warning as a young boy and man. Samson knew Delilah’s intent wasn’t for his good. She was absolutely up front about it. Yet, he chose to play the deadly game anyway–and he got burned.

Why are we so enticed by the “fire”? What’s a “fire” area for you? The Bible is a great place to turn for help in dealing with and overcoming temptation. One passage that I find beneficial when it comes to temptation is Psalm 119:9-12. Are there any verses or passages that help you stand strong when you’re facing temptation? Tami
