Today’s reading: 1 Peter 5:1-5

In 1 Peter 5, Peter provides instruction on relationships and interacting and functioning within the body of Christ–first for leaders, then to those being led and lastly to the entire group.

For those in a leadership role, Peter highlights the importance of having a willing and caring attitude and a serving heart. The charge for those not in leadership is to submit or be subject to the spiritual leaders who are over them. But Peter then concludes with the all-inclusive charge for every Christ follower to clothe themselves with humility toward one another (vs. 5). Good and wise instruction for a healthy and properly functioning body of believers.

How would you describe being “clothed in humility” and why it’s important to someone? Does a particular person come to mind when you think of this phrase, and why? Do you think this phrase describes you? Tami
