Today’s reading: Proverbs 16:9
“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).
While I’m not someone who makes formal New Year’s resolutions, I’m still entering 2019 with the expectation and anticipation of experiencing something different–responding well to what I will encounter over the next 365 days and putting into action objectives and goals that I haven’t yet accomplished. All my plans seem good to me, but as Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, God has a plan and purpose for each of us, which means that He and He alone “establishes” our steps and plans.
So as I enjoy this first day of 2019 (I can’t quite believe it’s actually here), it’s my prayer that God will shape, guide and direct my thoughts and desires so that everything in my plan will be in alignment with His.
