Today’s reading: 1 Timothy 1:8-14
The world today wants us to feel uncomfortable, ashamed and embarrassed because we have chosen to follow Christ. I have a heavy heart about our nation’s growing negativity and its rejecting attitude toward Christianity, which seems to have accelerated over the past 5-10 years. But as I take in and contemplate God’s Word, I’m reminded that it’s nothing new for God’s message of love and salvation to be met with much resistance, and that regardless of the spiritual atmosphere, we must be bold about Christ. So I was thankful for Paul’s urging of Timothy to stand firmly on his relationship with God, and to continue to confidently and boldly proclaim Christ through his testimony.
“But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me” (vs. 12).
Are you with Paul in saying, “I am not ashamed of Christ”? How do the people you go to school with, work with, your neighbors, family members, know that you are a follower of Jesus? What helps you resist the temptation to shrink back when it comes to representing God to others? Tami
