Today’s reading: Philemon 8-25

As we move further into Paul’s letter to Philemon, Paul puts before us a wonderful example of how to speak the truth in love and offer gentle instruction when dealing with a difficult situation. What stood out prominently to me was Paul’s wise approach to a challenging and emotionally charged situation. Rather than issuing a directive to Philemon, Paul instead chooses to “appeal” to Philemon, in essence “arguing his case” throughout the letter, and in so doing, leading Philemon to respond rightly.

What’s one thing you learned or noticed about conflict resolution from Paul’s letter to Philemon? Did you see anything you’d like to put into practice the next time you encounter conflict? How does the approach and tone someone uses impact your response when you’re at odds with another person? Tami
