Today’s reading: 2 Kings 24:1-25:30

The final two chapters of 2 Kings are sad ones for sure. After years and years of God cautioning the leaders and people of Judah about judgment that would come as a result of their sinful ways, God finally takes action. I’m not sure who coined this phrase, but as I read the accounts of these last kings, the saying “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity” came to my mind. The recurring and predominant theme of the kings of Israel and Judah who came after David was one of unwillingness to surrender to, and follow after, God. And that decision to elevate themselves and their desires above God, proved disastrous.
