Today’s reading: Ecclesiastes 10:1-3

Solomon’s message of caution in Ecclesiastes 10:1 is a good one, and words that I’m sure we’ve all experienced at one time or another.

“[A] little folly outweighs wisdom and honor” (vs. 1).

Have you ever noticed how when something bad, unexpected, unpleasant or uninvited happens or is introduced into a situation, even in a small amount, it can damage or completely ruin a situation or outcome? That’s certainly the case when it comes to the choices we make. We can work long and hard establishing a good reputation, developing a strong work ethic, saving our money, building relationships. But then, in almost the blink of an eye, we can cause immense damage by acting foolishly–failing to think through our actions, giving into a temptation, letting down our guard.

What do these verses reveal about the wisdom of following God’s ways and seeking His counsel as we make life decisions? How have you observed or experienced a “little folly” having a significant negative impact?
