Today’s reading: 1 Peter 5:8-11

I Peter 5:8-11 contains one of the clearest warnings in the Bible about Satan and spiritual warfare. It provides a good reminder that Satan is real, that he is our powerful enemy and that he is actively seeking to inflict harm on us as one of God’s children. But immediately following this serious warning, Peter offers these encouraging words, which lets us know that with Gods power, we can stand firm.

“Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you” (vs. 9-10).

How often do you think about spiritual warfare and the fact that Satan is actively “your adversary”? What comfort do you draw from verses 9-11? Tami
