Today’s reading: Psalm 119:33-40 (He)
After asking God to teach him, give him understanding and lead him according to God’s Word, the psalmist then makes these two specific requests:
- “Incline my heart to your testimonies…” (vs. 36) and
- “Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things…” (vs. 37)
He’s asking God to continue to generate in him the desire to fully engage with, know and then follow God’s laws. The world around us has a way of pressing in to pull our focus away from God and how He wants us to live. So these requests are good ones that we would be wise to incorporate into our prayers.
What does this passage show us about the impact and importance of God’s Word in our lives? Will you join me in asking God to “incline my heart to His Word” and “turn my eyes from looking at worthless things”? Tami
