Today’s reading: Psalm 131:1-3

In these three short verses of Psalm 131, David gives us a look at having a right state of mind. Rather than focusing on circumstances, material possessions or things he doesn’t fully understand, David chooses to focus his attention on God and his relationship with Him. The result is a content and secure David because David knows that God is by his side.

This psalm resonates with my heart. Looking back over the past few years, there have certainly been times when circumstances have seemed to be swirling around me and out of control. But when I chose to focus on God and follow His ways, my soul was “calm and quieted.” Thank you, God, for holding me in Your hands and caring about every circumstance and detail of my life!

What impact does knowing that God is with you at all times have on your thinking and attitude? What’s one example of you being “calmed and quieted” when you turned your full attention to God? Tami
