Today’s reading: Psalm 137:1-9

Even when times are tough and we’re struggling, we can have joy if we keep our eyes on God and continue to praise and sing to Him. Sometimes, though, that can be difficult. There have been plenty of times when I’ve gone to a church service weary and downhearted to the point that I didn’t want to sing or participate in the service. Yet, when I left the service, I had a different attitude. Why? Because I chose to sing to the Lord–even as I struggled. My decision to sing (many times through tears) served to sooth and open my heart to hear more clearly from God who was right there by my side.

What role has remembering God’s goodness played in helping you maintain a joyful heart, particularly in difficult circumstances? Tami

P.S. As I read and considered Psalm 137, the song “How Can I Keep From Singing” by Chris Tomlin came to my mind. I invite you to take a listen and sing along to God! Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24qpqu-yDkI&list=RD24qpqu-yDkI
